Accessibility
I want every family to be able to fold along, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or bigger text.
What the site does
- Every step picture has a text description of the step written next to it, so the instructions can be followed without seeing the picture.
- Pictures that carry meaning have alternative text. Pictures that only decorate a link that already has a title are hidden from screen readers so they are not read twice.
- Everything works with a keyboard: Tab moves through links and buttons, a "Skip to content" link appears first, and the step viewer can be moved with the arrow keys and buttons.
- Text colours are chosen to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast level.
- Animations stop when your device is set to reduce motion.
- The text can be zoomed to 200% without breaking the page, and the site is available in 6 languages.
Known limits
- The videos are on YouTube. YouTube's automatic captions can be turned on in the player, but they may not be perfect.
- The AR drawing tool in the app needs a camera and is a visual activity; the step-by-step pages work without it.
Tell me about a problem
If something is hard to use, write to origamiinpaperland@gmail.com and say which page and what happened. I will try to fix it or send you the information in another way.
